Galerie Helenbeck: [plus c'est moins] [moins c'est plus]

Un endroit que j'ai trouvé en attendant les courts et en flânant était La Galerie Helenbeck, qui mérite son propre article de blog. One of the spots I found while waiting for the short films and wandering, was Galerie Helenbeck, which deserves its own post...

 The images are from the current exhibit, [plus c'est moins] [moins c'est plus], on show until the end of October, featuring the works of Marc Alberghina (below) and Jeffrey Haines (above). 

  

I found the gallery simple and elegant and its staff welcoming to my request to photograph the works. There was also a little write-up by a Martin T. on the works, featuring some thoughts from Alberghina. Here's an extrait, (I mean excerpt): 

<<Je suis fasciné par l'apparent formalisme des éléments qui composent notre environnement quotidien et comment, lorsqu'ils sont manipulés, transformés ou juxtaposés, ils incitent à questionner les idées préconçues que nous avons à propos de la vie [...] je souhaite titiller l'inconscient de mon audience pour mettre à jour et révéler un flot (flood) visuel de conscience. Mes installations ont la capacité d'exprimer des associations intimes à l'intérieur de soi. L'historie personnelle du spectateurs est importante. Tresser (braid) des narrations cachées en soi, créer un tissu de souvenirs à partir d'histories linéaires insaisissables devient alors possible. Dans mon travail, je cherche le fil (thread) universel qui satisfera le désir que j'ai de retrouver des émotions perdues>>

I can't grasp what memories the works conjure up, but my picks are the severed hands and golden platter of skeletal hands , Virus, 2010 and Nougatine, 2009. I sense a theme...
