Villa Kérylos, Beaulieu-sur-Mer

Today's stop after class was Beaulieu-sur-Mer, for Villa Kérylos.

Unfortunately I didn't time it quite right, so I had little time to explore Beaulieu or to get to Villa Rothschild around the corner, but Kérylos completely blew me away.

The Villa is the work of Théodore Reinach, a specialist in the Greek language and civilization and Emmanuel Pontremoli, an architect who shared the same interest and admiration for Ancient Greece.

The building was modeled after those of Delos and furnished with incredible pieces made by l'atelier Bettenfeld, followings the designs of Pontremoli.

My photographs truly don't do the space any justice, but hopefully it translates a fraction of the charm and absolute tranquility of a place in perfect balance, designed and executed with meticulous cohesion.

In the basement of the building, there's was also a ceramic workshop, selling a nice mix of works: pieces branded with the mark of younger hands, decorated with adorable drawings only kids are capable of, and other more intricate pieces in the style of the villa.

I really wanted to get something but couldn't figure out what, haha.

At last, I took a last look at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat across the way, and turned back for the station.

Sadly, I totally missed the zombie walk in Nice. Tant pis! I had wanted to document that!
